BCM Arya protects the environment, keeps teachers and students healthy, and promotes environmental awareness- a triple bottom line!

All sustainable development goals come down to education in BCM ARYA not only in classrooms but also in its bricks and mortar and the way the school creates an environmentally, economically, and equitably green future. The following parameters in different categories capture the essence of mosaic of Green BCM ARYA where facets of sustainability go well beyond environmental activism.


    Green Initiative

  • The institution has 5 big lawns duly maintained with variety of species.
  • Use of Decomposed manure to increase the fertility of soil (BACK TO NATURE).
  • Promoting drought resistant plants
  • Watering plants, trees, and grass during morning hours only
  • Visits to wild life sanctuaries, zoos to study ecosystems.
  • Encouraging Walking, Bicycling and Car-pooling.
  • Street plays and distribution of pamphlets to sensitize people to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali.
  • Getting students' Fee online and promote e-reading.
  • Well laid out Traffic Management for the Drop off and pick-up of students to minimize pollution levels.

    Water Smart BCM

  • Three Rain water Harvesting tanks of 52000L, 52000L, 72000L have been installed to increase the ground water level since 2009.
  • Automatic sensor taps in Washrooms and Drinking Areas.
  • Use of sprinklers for watering school lawns
  • Water leaks, repairs and cleaning of water tanks. ? Signs with reminders "Water is precious, Save every drop" is highlighted at drinking areas

    Waste to Wealth

  • Ban on poly bags and silver foils in tiffins.
  • Blue & Green dustbins (Degradable and Non-degradable) for proper segregation of waste.
  • To minimise use of paper, instructions to staff and students are sent through BCM App. Reuse of other side of printed paper.
  • Switching from paper bills to 'paperless' and paying them online or by phone.

    Believing the more variety, the better society

  • Students feed birds with water and grain
  • Earthern pots are placed in school premises.
  • Use natural products and methods for pest control
  • Donations for Disaster Relief Funds, flood victims, affected families of martyrs.
  • Rakhis and cards are sent to brave soldiers across the border.

    Energy Conservation

  • Replacing incandescent bulbs with fluorescent bulbs
  • Student energy patrolling team to help school save energy
  • Use of Energy Star electronics and appliances, vending machines in cafeteria
  • Signs like 'Remember to turn off the lights when you leave!' are pasted in school.
  • Awareness sessions are conducted on various environmental and sustainability issues to give first-hand experience to students beyond the classroom
